Art in Care Nursing Units
Mayo Arts office will work with CNUs in the following initiatives:
Rainbow Textile project: The concept is that residents/families/staff will make Rainbows (from wool) and display the same in the CNU. The project will include the dissemination of a how to make a rainbow video with textile artist Katie Moore.
Postcards: The concept is that residents/families/staff can send and receive the stunning postcards and display them in the CNU. They will be works of art, printed and designed and issued to residents in Mayo CNUs. The postcards will be based on 30 pieces of work which have been curated from the Ballinglen Arts Foundation collection.
Framed prints: Commissioned, framed prints from Mayo based printmakers will be distributed to public CNUs in Mayo. It will be a way of marking the current health crisis and having something beautiful to adorn the walls of the CNUs that will bring art into the lives of the residents.
Pen to paper 2: Drawing & calligraphy postal project with the Linenhall Arts Centre and artist Maeve Clancy and CNUs in Mayo. Exploring handwriting as a personal visual mark.
