Architecture Collaboration – Eileen Gray
Eileen Gray was an Irish architect and furniture designer and a pioneer of the Modern Movement in architecture.
Méanscoil Gharman in Enniscorthy Co. Wexford is located in the family home of Eileen Gray. Artist Laura Ni Fhlaibhin and a contemporary architect will work with transition year students through a series of workshops in celebrating the legacy of Eileen Gray in terms of innovation in design and dynamic creative practice.
The aim of workshops is to advance the students awareness of design processes and to develop their understanding of contemporary art and architecture.
The project will culminate in a series of outdoor sculptural works which the public will be invited to attend at an Open Day along with other secondary schools in the area.
Accompanying this will be a one day art and architecture seminar curated by Wexford County Council architect Laura O’Gorman in partnership with Arts Officer Liz Burns and Creative Associate Laura Ni Fhlaibhin.
