This project is designed with & for young people, age 10-18, in East Cork, giving access to affordable hands-on workshops led by professional animator/directors and a platform to showcase their work on the big screen to classmates, family and friends. 400 young people annually get a unique opportunity to explore the magic of animation in their own community.

‘Animania’ is an innovative workshop and festival screening programme from First Cut Youth Film Project & Festival designed to give young people age 10- 18 an opportunity to learn how to make animations through participating in workshops using Pixilation, Drawn, Drawn on film, Stop motion and Sand Animation. These opportunities will be accessible to diverse audiences. Workshops take place in schools and youth groups throughout the East Cork area with over 400 young people making their own short animated films. Hands-on animation workshops will be presented by professional animation artists and take place from September to November. All filmmakers will attend screening events at the annual 6-day First Cut Youth Film Festival which takes place in March in Youghal, Co Cork. The festival prides itself in placing inclusivity at its core, in 2025 it is in its 16th year and has been delivered with great success to-date by a core team who are experienced and have proven skills to complete the programme successfully. There will be a free Family Screening each year during the festival targeting the families, friends and other school
