Cumann Merriman has been operating since 1967. This is the 57th year in promoting our Irish culture, heritage and traditions through Winter schools, Summer schools, historical outings and events.

The Merriman winter school will officially opening in the Old Ground Hotel followed by a reception of friends and guests, the event will include:

• Lecture in Irish on the courts of Munster Poetry.
• Club Merriman, singing in Irish, music, dance and conversation.
• Panel discussion on Irish education, hedge schools, modern schools and related matters.
• Guided tour in Irish of Ennis with a visit to the new library and a talk on the association of Brian Merriman with the Ennis court of poetry.
• Book launch of Irish language Titles.
• Lecture on education in the Irish language.
• Readings of the poetry, prose and literature in Irish.
