Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Southside Travellers Action Group (STAG) will engage an Archivist(s) to assemble, catalogue and safeguard archival material representing the 40 year history of the Southside Travellers Action Group.

The Archivist will carry out the following tasks between July/August and November 2024.

  • Work with STAG to assemble key documents, photos, ephemera, and items relating to its 40 year history
  • Carry out oral history recordings with key people
  • Carry out research into local and national archives and assemble records relating to STAG
  • Catalogue physical and aural archival material and advise on storage and digitisation
  • Prepare and deliver a public talk
  • Prepare content for an exhibition celebrating 40 years of STAG in November 2024
The project will include a Traveller shadowing the archivist in order to build expertise within the community in oral history recording and ongoing archive development.

This project is a collaboration between dlrcc Community and Heritage Sections and is co-funded by Creative Ireland, the Heritage Council of Ireland and dlrcc
