A festival that celebrates the creativity and the innovation of women in Irish society, both past and present and a marker for the beginning of spring. All the proposed events support all four strategic priorities of Creative Roscommon with people and partnership being at the heart of the festival. 

The Brigid's Awakening Festival in Roscommon started in 2023, the
year Ireland introduced the bank holiday in dedication to St. Brigid. The festival incorporated many communities in the county including Tarmonbarry, Strokestown and Rathcroghan. The weekend long series of events were full to capacity. All events focused on remembering the traditions associated with St. Brigid's day with a strong focus on honoring strong mythological female figures and the celebration of Roscommon women across different industries, for example in music. The lighting of Roscommon's St. Brigid's Cross in Tarmonbarry has become a staple feature of the festival as it is one of Ireland's largest St. Brigid's crosses. The cross attracted national media attention during the 2024 festival. It is hoped to build on the festival in 2025 by spreading it countywide. The main objective is that it becomes a primary revenue generating festival for county Roscommon that incorporates an array of creative events that celebrate women, St.Brigid and the coming of spring.
