Donegal

A county brimming with world-renowned traditional music heritage and a thriving arts, craft and cultural scene, Donegal has never failed to inspire or support its many artists and creatives.

The spiritual home for so many influential Irish artists from Enya, Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh and Altan, Moya Brennan and Clannad, to the next generation of singers and fiddlers the Henry Girls and Ciarán Ó Maonaigh, Donegal boasts a long and extensive involvement in music, contemporary visual arts and crafts. The county has always been an attractive destination for artists and makers, with the landscape itself often serving as inspiration.

Our Strategy

Five strategic priorities were identified in Donegal following public and sectoral consultation. These are (i) Improve provision of, and access to, information; (ii) Increase engagement with, and access to, the culture & creative sector; (iii) Support cultural practitioners; (iv) Promote our sense of place and identity; and (v) Enhance cultural infrastructure and consolidate strategic organisations. ...

The Creative Ireland Donegal Culture Team is actively delivering on this strategy and can demonstrate significant progress across the priority areas.
