The Aisling Children's Arts Festival takes place from October 20th to 26th, 2019 in Longford town and there will be a programme of events listed at www.aislingfestival.ie.

Among the many attractions this year is the project 'Freedom to Write', a collaboration between Aisling Children's Arts Festival and Fighting Words. One class from primary school and one class from secondary school will be invited to participate in this workshop, which will be facilitated by Fighting Words creative writing programme. The children will be given the 'Freedom to Write' their own story, using their imagination and creative writing skills. At the end of their workshop, their story will be printed and presented to the children.

On October 20th, 'Family Day' will take place in Backstage Theatre. As part of this day, there will be 'Creative Experiments'. Aimed at 5-17 year olds, this will show how science and art are part of the creative problem solving family (STEAM).

Also on this day, at locations throughout Longford, there will be 'Sensory Time' where ASD units and children with additional needs will be invited to attend classes. Noise levels will be kept to a minimum, using less stimuli and creating options on materials for participants.
