Dunhill village lies 6 miles east of Tramore and has a number of significant heritage sites within its environs that include sites of archaeological, built and natural heritage. These include the impressive C13th Dunhill Castle, Dunhill and Ballynageeragh portal tombs , Thatch houses and the 4.5km Anne Valley walk leading from Dunhill to the coast at Annestown through wetlands and woodlands. The Dunhill Community have a strong sense of place and great pride in their area and aspire to promote the heritage interest in their area by collating all available information on the heritage resource and developing a plan to enhance, conserve and promote these sites. By working with heritage professionals through a process of community consultation they seek to document other unrecorded aspects of heritage e.g. placenames and fieldnames and site folklore. Abarta Heritage will work with the community and the local authority Heritage Officer on this project and produce a heritage audit and written report which will inform a Sense of Place Plan for Dunhill and Environs.
