Tullow’s social farming project helps people with disabilities express themselves through art in a farm environment.
Simone Webb’s social farming project, which takes place on her working farm by the Burren River in Carlow, offers anyone with intellectual or physical disabilities, as well as those experiencing mental health issues, the chance to spend time on the farm.
An important local resource, this innovative farm project supports participants in realising their individual potential to become full, active members of the community. Surrounded by nature, participants can take creative classes, get hands on and let their imaginations roam.
Made possible through Carlow County Council’s five-year Culture and Creativity Strategy, “social farming gives the opportunity to come out and integrate, to feel a sense of worth, to do something that will give a sense of confidence and a sense of value”.
Watch Simone talk about the project in the short video below.
