The River Garden: Weaving workshop (Day one).

This Saturday willow Weaver Lynn Kirkham @lynngreenmantle will facilitate a willow weaving workshop at the river garden in Fethard  (in the grounds of a disused site at the base of the town walls in Fethard) from 11-4pm.

The workshop is open to everyone in the community and beyond, and aims to foster an interest in the creative use of willow through the medium of weaving.

Try your hard in weaving a fence, using this sustainable material, some of which we will harvest from the old willow beds nearby the day before in case you want to help with that too!

Both willow and weaving are excellent mediums to work in, since they are local and sustainable, and will provide an enjoyable activity where people can learn a new and creative skill. Furthermore willow and weaving are relevant to the history of the town, since both have been used through the ages. People will feel connected to the history and place through this medium and activity, in an enjoyable and practical way, and can continue in the future to develop their skills further if they wish.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

No booking required or fee!

Location 52.465148-7.696108.
Cross the river at Watergate bridge heading for the town, turn left and follow the walls along a track as far as the bend, where you will find us! Please park near the coffee truck at start of the track or come on foot!
