Creative Youth News Updates - January 2025

What a year it’s been for creativity! In 2024, Creative Ireland worked with incredible partners to deliver transformative projects across the country, empowering young people and celebrating creative talent. As we step into 2025, we’re excited to share new opportunities for local creative projects, updates on Creative Schools, and highlights from This is Art! 2024. Read on for the latest updates, achievements, and opportunities!

Arts Council 2025 Open Calls 

The Arts in Early Learning and Childcare Scheme 2025 opens March 8th. The purpose of the Arts in Early Learning and Childcare Scheme 2024 is to provide opportunities for babies and young children to explore and enjoy the arts with the support of artists, early-years educators, school-age practitioners, families and carers.

Creative Schools 2025-2026 Opening Soon 

Creative Schools 2025-2026 applications will open February the 28th. Schools and Youthreach centres that join the programme take part in a two-year guided journey to develop a Creative Schools Plan unique to their own school, and to put it into action.

Youth Voice in Creative Schools – Reflections on Practice 

The Arts Council has recently published “Youth Voice in Creative Schools – Reflections on Practice” – celebrating the work of children, creative associates and schools across the country, offering insights, case studies and reflections on their work and showing how youth voice is central to Creative Schools.

Applications are open to all Education and Training Boards across Ireland to become a Local Creative Youth Partnership (LCYP).

There are currently 7 LCYPs in existence. The focus is on the most disadvantaged and seldom heard children and young people.

This is Art! 2024 

The RTE/Creative Ireland national art competition winners for This is Art 2024 have been announced. There are 5 exceptional 1st place category winners, along with 10 runners-up who will also receive prizes, 145 artists whose standout work will receive special commendations, and 492 more whose brilliant entries will be celebrated with certificates.

Creative Youth – End of Project Reports 

We like to share research and reports about projects we support to share the learnings with a wide audience.

Creative Ireland 2024 Wrap Up 

The Creative Ireland Programme had an amazing 2024, delivering thousands of creative projects with our partners across the island of Ireland. Cruinniú na nÓg reached new heights, creative projects combatting climate change galvanised communities, the digital creative industry roadmap was published, and new Shared Island Projects commenced just to name a few achievements from 2024.
