dlr St Patrick's Day Parade 2025: creative community engagement programme
Led by the Dún Laoghaire Business Association with support from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, 2024 saw Dún Laoghaire’s first parade in over 50 years. The Parade provides an opportunity for local residents and visitors to gather and celebrate dlr's culture, heritage, community and everything we are proud of. Through an open call local schools, sports clubs, community, music and dance groups and businesses are invited to participate in the parade.
For 2025 we want to build on the successes of last year's event by supporting community groups to develop a visual impact. We are thrilled to be working with visual artist Jane Fogarty, and through an open call to participating groups some lucky local young people will be working with Jane to develop wearable pieces or props for our 2025 St Patrick's Day Parade!
Jane Fogarty lives and works in Dublin, Ireland. Her work includes playful three-dimensional objects and painted works on paper. When working with children, she prioritises their voices and strives to empower them through creativity, ensuring their input shines through in every finished piece. She will bring these skills and her vast experience of working with children and young people to this project, and we are really excited to see what Jane and the children make!
