New Associations - working title (Shared Island Fund)
Examining the intimate connections between health, wellbeing and climate change, this project links communities in Wexford and Belfast to develop a strong network of creative thinking and problem solving across the island. Working with five key partners – Wexford Arts Centre, Gorey School of Art, The MAC Belfast, Ulster University and Belfast School of Art – this project asks: how can storytelling and the use of innovative technologies highlight the interactions between the areas of health and climate action?
This is the first phase of the project, focusing on research and development. In this phase, partners are tasked with investigating and testing ideas for creative projects that support wellbeing through a changing climate. Storytelling and innovative VR technologies will be the framework and methodology used, and twenty students aged 18-25 from Gorey School of Art and Ulster University will be the test groups. In addition to online meetings, each group will travel to each other’s location to brainstorm, share, and collaborate.
At the end of this phase, partners will be more aware of the consequences and responses to climate change that pose risks to health and wellbeing. They will have developed a robust project plan for phase two that works towards achieving better health outcomes in a changing climate, while meaningfully linking communities in Wexford and Belfast.
