As a feature of the newly developed Queen Maeve Square, a giant interactive chess board is due to be installed, which should engage the community and any passers by.  As part of this project, local artists and woodturners from MADE in Sligo will be commissioned to design and make giant chess pieces. 

Aptly, the queen would be modelled on Queen Maeve & the king on Ailil mac Máta, linking to the mythical Brown Bull of Cooley story. 

The giant chess pieces will be a unique feature of the  chess board which members of the public and tourists can enjoy when passing through Queen Maeve Square.
