One Night at Glenlough

‘One Night at Glenlough’ is a new play by Donegal playwright Shaun Byrne which will be produced by the Balor Arts Centre, Ballybofey, as a centrepiece of the annual Donegal Bay and Blue Stacks Festival. The Festival, now in its 24th. year, takes place in a network of towns, villages and rural communities, mostly in South and South West Donegal, presented by Donegal County Council, this year it will take place between September 26th. and October 13th.

By providing funding to the show it will enable an extra performance to take place,  giving the population of Ballyshannon access to the play, and provide extra work for the creatives involved.

‘One Night at Glenlough’ remembers the eventful sojourn Welsh national poet Dylan Thomas spent at Glenlough, Gleann Cholm Cille, in the Summer of 1935, having fled the distractions of London for rural Donegal in order to focus on his writing.

Directed by Charlie Bonner and featuring well known Stranorlar actor Frankie McCafferty, along with Aidan Moriarty as Dylan Thomas, ‘One Night at Glenlough’ will be seen at the Balor Arts Centre, Ballybofey on Thursday and Friday, September 26th and 27th; at Halla Mhuire, Gleann Cholm Cille on Saturday, September 28th. and at the Abbey Arts Centre, Ballyshannon on Sunday, September 29th.
