The Music Yard ‘This is Me’ choir, based in Larne, Co Antrim has been selected by Community Arts Partnership as the project partner in this musical venture.

Founded by Alderman Gerardine Mulvenna, it was set up in 2018 to provide a service for people affected by dementia, their carers, volunteers and people of all abilities. It has proved to be a wonderful support network and the choir has gone from strength to strength, winning the Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Friendly Community of the Year Award 2019. It is led by Thomas & Angela Hamilton and meets every Wednesday for some singing, lots of fun and laughs and a wee cup of tea afterwards. The Music Yard looks forward to gathering their members together to Zoom with the Forget Me Nots on their Friday ‘Silver Linings’ sessions to share songs, stories and a bit of craic.

Forget Me Nots Choir: 

In February, the group were honoured to be chosen for the ‘Always Brighter Stories’, an initiative by Dublin City Council, with support from the Lord Mayor of Dublin at the time, Daithí de Róiste to celebrate people and groups doing kind, inclusive work in their communities across Dublin, while on June 12th the group was asked to sing at the Memory Café, Skerries Harps GAA Club.

Project Timeline Update

Josh Schultz, Development Manager, CAP visited rehearsal on 21st May as part of the project timeline to build and develop dynamic relationships and meet project milestones. Forget Me Nots group are planning to visit ‘This is Me’ in Larne later this summer to further this exciting relationship.
