Sam Rom

Join us to watch 'SAM ROM', a documentary that invites you to witness the beauty of Roma culture and the resilience of its people, and to become part of a broader conversation about inclusion, equality, and shared humanity.

‘SAM ROM' (dir. Katie-Ruby McLaughlin Robinson) is a short documentary that shines a light on the Roma community in Ireland with a heartfelt focus on those living in Donegal. Through deeply personal interviews and intimate scenes, ‘SAM ROM’ aims to reveal the rich tapestry and diversity within Roma culture while addressing the challenges faced day-to-day. This documentary amplifies Roma voices by showcasing their strength and resilience in the face of adversity. 'SAM ROM’ aims to foster understanding and empathy, challenging stereotypes and advocating for a more inclusive society in Donegal, and across the country. We aspire to inspire empathy and drive positive change.

The documentary will accompany by a photographic exhibition that will launch on the 13th of July at 6:30pm in the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny as part of the Earagail Arts Festival.

This project has been faciliated by the Donegal County Council Arts Office, supported by Creative Ireland/Éire Ildánach.
