The Darn Skippy Ensemble Experiment
The Darn Skippy Ensemble Experiment is a collaboration between Darn Skippy Productions and the Moat Theatre and Club, Naas, which explores how professional and amateur theatre practitioners can support one another’s work.
Phase 1 of this project ran from August 2023 – April 2024, and created opportunities for mutual learning, artistic exchange, mentorship and experimentation.
Now in Phase 2, the group will return to Ensemble sessions in summer/autumn 2024 and further develop PLAY - a unique and ambitious site-specific promenade piece. The Moat Theatre building itself becomes a character in the play, with the audience travelling through backstage and non-theatre spaces, and the walls humming with stories from Moat Club members past and present.
Featuring performances by members of the Darn Skippy Ensemble alongside Moat Club actors, as well as Olivier Award Winner and former Moat Club member Pat Kinevane, this newly explored version of PLAY will be presented during the Moat Club’s 70th Anniversary year as part of Heritage Week in August 2024.
Follow along with the Darn Skippy Ensemble's progress and development of the show on their Instagram or Facebook page.
Full booking details for PLAY will be available soon at the Moat Theatre box office: https://moattheatre.com
