This project will develop a new artistic model to connect young musicians and performers with the many talented older generation who are currently involved in the music scene in the county. Through a series of music workshops in voice, percussion, song-writing and performance young people will develop new skills and knowledge while at the same time connecting with trusted experienced local artists who can help nurture their talents.

One key aspect of this programme will be to explore how young people can make the leap from playing for themselves to becoming performers and specifically how they can deal with the various challenges that will arise. From self-care, dealing with venues, audience reactions and personal management the young people will get an excellent overview of the industry.

The project will recruit 24 young people who will engage in workshops to develop new skills and create new music individually and collaboratively to perform locally in venues all over the County and sharing with local schools, music schools and the Music Department in DKIT.
