Following on from the 2017 publication of 'Flights of Fancy; Follies, Families and Demesnes in Offaly' written by Rachel McKenna, Offaly County Council's Conservation Architect, Creative Ireland Offaly is keen to continue the support of follies in the county. In 2023, two follies are being brought into focus.

Located approximately twenty kilometres east of Tullamore sits the folly at Toberdaly; a ruined medieval tower house surmounted by a late eighteenth century octagonal gazebo built in brick. This striking structure sits on private land on an elevated site and is clearly visible from the road.  Much of the folly has been obscured from overgrown vegetation which will be cut back to uncover what lies beneath.

The spire of Prospect House, which rises to a height of 18 metres, is situated on high ground in the townland of Tinamuck and was built in 1811 by a local magistrate, Richard Holmes. Set within pasture land with some remaining mature trees at a distance, it creates an imposing scene and will be the focus of a drone survey.
