Dún Laoghaire Anseo: Street Art 2023

A series of street art installations reflecting the heritage and history of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. A mixture of local, national and international artists continue to expand the open air gallery that is Dún Laoghaire. This year sees the project expand further afield following demand from communities and representatives to bring art to new locations.

Provided with a brief describing the heritage of nominated spaces, the artists have responded with inspirational proposals, grounded in the character of the areas. The artworks bring light, colour, inspiration and conversation to Dún Laoghaire and beyond.

  1. Maritime themed mural ‘The Light Keeper’ at West Pier, Dún Laoghaire
  2. Irish language phrase and translation commissioned for a new laneway linking the harbour to the town and reflecting Dún Laoghaire as an arrival and departure point. “An té a bhíonn siúlach, bíonn siad scéalach (Those who travel have stories to tell)”
  3. Joycean themed mural in Patrick St., Dún Laoghaire featuring elements from the Nestor chapter.
  4. Mural tribute to the Yeats sisters and Dun Emer at Dundrum.
