Paddock, Rath and Cloneyhurke National Schools will be part of this large-scale composition project, ‘Bicycles, Boomerangs and Blue Macaws’ with composers Lorna McLaughlin and Sarah Murphy, co-funded by Creative Ireland Laois and the Arts Council. 

Six new songs will be premiered on June 1st 2023 inspired by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Songs created by the children included songs considering the impact of Climate Change.

This project will be coordinated by Music Generation Laois, which is a performance music education programme for children and young people in County Laois. Music Generation Laois is based in Laois Music Centre and delivers engaging music programmes in schools and centres, across 7 programme strands.
