Rahan Church is at the centre of a large early Christian Monastic site which has been the site of worship for communities for over 1500 years. The church has undergone conservation resulting from the Rahan Conservation Plan by Howley Hayes. The community are now looking at more ways to make it accessible and to welcome the wider community.  

In September 2023 this site was the starting point for the Rahan to Clonmacnoise pilgrimage interweaving it with many other heritage sites in the county. The report being undertaken in 2023 will faciltate planning for the future.
