Clare Libraries Children's Book Festival

Get ready for a month of magic as libraries across County Clare open their doors to young readers! Clare Libraries’ annual Children’s Book Festival will bring the wonder of literature to hundreds of primary school children with a series of author talks, workshops, theatre and arts events. From captivating storytelling sessions to the thrill of meeting Ireland’s newest and best authors in person, and the creative spark ignited by hands-on literary and reading workshops, there's something for every young Clare reader to discover.

Children can enjoy visits with authors Patricia Forde, Éanna Ní Lamhna, Ellen Ryan, Alan Nolan, Erika McGann, Gráinne O'Brien, Shannon native Alex Dunne and Flor MacCarthy.

Creativity and imagination are key to the Festival and the programme boasts a variety of workshops in coding, healthy eating, biodiversity, archaeology, illustration and music.

Younger readers can enjoy the latest production from The Barking Dog Theatre Company; Teddy's Haunted House

Children who struggle to find their next read can book a visit to the Book Doctor and pick up a reading prescription.
