Between June and November 2023, we will partner with local musicians to provide a series of live music workshops and performances for patients of Merlin Park University Hospital and University Hospital Galway, and for residents of residential healthcare settings. Ceol na Cuimhní / The Music of Memories workshops will offer older people taster music and song writing sessions.

Older people will have an opportunity to input to the sessions through singing and storytelling, and all musical tastes will be catered to. These workshops will enhance the quality of life patients of hospital wards and residents of residential healthcare settings and reduce the impact of isolation and loneliness. Ceol na Cuimhní / The Music of Memories will support older people on a pleasant journey of reminiscence through beloved songs and recollection, while simultaneously promoting the grace, wisdom and self-fulfilment of positive ageing.
