Tea, Chats and Tunes is a COVID responsive project that developed from a ‘Music in Healthcare’ Training programme partnership that has been running in Meath since 2013. The Project evolved in 2021 and 2022 to respond to the need to find new ways of connecting some of the most vulnerable members of our communities, isolating in Nursing Homes, with each other and their families at home or abroad. 

Tea, Chats and Tunes provides a music sharing experience that puts the residents’ interests and choice at the heart of music-making, by connecting closely with the setting before each visit and facilitating the residents to curate each visit through a 2-way responsive engagement.

It does this by being responsive and removing the pressure of the situation, through creating a shared opportunity to engage in a live and bespoke cultural experience in a safe way, that accommodates healthcare settings, circumstances and for health issues such as dementia, MCI, sensory loss etc. 

In 2022 CI funding enabled a detailed evaluation of the programme recommendations from which inform the 2023 programme.
