Messy Play Family Days
Mountview Community Centre in Dublin 15 opened a toy library which was launched on 1st April with a Messy Play Family Day. The day was a great success - we didn’t realise the amount of interest we would have from families in Dublin 15. The only thing stopping us from putting this event on more regularly is funding. The Messy Play Family Days are a collaboration between Mountview Community Centre, Fingal Community Development and D15 Stay & Play Toy Library. Our committee has 3 members with childcare education who have put together activities specific to children's holistic development. We aim to make these Messy Play Days bigger and better, including hosting a large outdoor event for children to explore art, creativity and nature. Messy Play shows families how to make sensory development activities with everyday items at home such as Cheerio Sand, PlayDough, Gloop and Puffy Paint. The Messy Play Days allow children to explore their creativity in an open and safe environment where they are allowed to get messy! We aim to use mostly recycled materials and have even involved local crèches in decorating our volunteers' uniforms. there will be three Messy Play Family Days. One in the summer, one for Halloween and one for Christmas.
