Galway Dance Project (GDP) will run a week long series of dance workshops in various styles in Nuns Island Theatre in October 2023 (it will be completed by the end of October in line with guidelines). These workshops will be aimed at young people ages 15-19 from Galway city and will be free of charge to participants. GDP will provide a travel stipend, through a simple online application process, to 4 young people to assist in removing barriers to participation. We will work with dance artist Genevieve Ryan to run these workshops, Genevieve has much experience of working with young people & with indentifying their needs. Facilitators will include Jessie Thompson (hip hop, crump) Neil O’Brien -(jazz & musical theatre) and Roberta Ceginskaite- contemporary. These workshops will offer high quality, professional dance training to young people, allowing them to engage with professional dance artists & organisations, at no cost.
