The Step into My Parlour show is a collection of songs interspersed with stories, memories and tales performed in a parlour setting. This project will bring this interactive and engaging performance to care homes and day centres across the counties of Cavan and Monaghan. The performance content will be linked to the social culture of the region including themes such as showbands and country music. 

Step Into My Parlour creates a non-institutional, ‘Parlour’ environment, in which people can articulate their own memories and stories and make it their own. The project will demonstrate to carers and staff, how the arts can be used in a creative way in working with older people and the wider community. 

It is our hope that this programme may serve to trigger memories and further reminiscences from participants, contributing to a greater sense of well-being for not only participants, but for those within their wider community of loved ones and caring staff.
