Saol - Ealaíne - Timpeallacht

"Saol, Ealaíne, Timpeallacht’ is the title of a project that combines art, the Irish language and environmental education. The project is aimed at Gaeltacht primary schools where the students spend an exciting day immersed in creativity and environmental education in the grounds of Cluain na dTor Gardens in Falcarragh. The Gardens at Cluain na dTor are an oasis of botanical diversity with trees, shrubs, pond and sculptures. The rich habitat attracts countless butterflies, frogs, foxes, hares, badgers, rabbits, bees and many bird species.

It is a wonderful place to investigate and immerse in the natural environment and get inspired to create art. The educational polytunnel in the grounds of the gardens will be the  hub of activity in the morning where the participants will engage with the local artist and gardener Deirdre Brennan and begin the day with an environmental art project.

The art project will help them identify trees and the various leaf shapes and as they create their own unique art pieces.  A visit to the pond area where they will learn about the many species living in that ecosystem. They will draw and paint dragon flies/ damselflies/ frogs/ butterflies which are in abundance around the pond when its sunny!

The students will get their hands dirty and learn how to make wildflower seed bombs which they will bring home.
