Youth workers and educators will have more opportunities to access pathways to credentials in a range of creative technologies, and pass these skills on to children and young people.
In 2021 and 2022, the Creative Ireland Programme worked in partnership with Kinia on a pilot programme supporting the delivery of creative technology projects in out-of-school settings. Through delivery of training to youth workers and educators, the partnership has enabled young people (in particular teens and those at greater risk of marginalisation) to take part in a range of technology projects and experiences.
Following a needs analysis, 2021 – 2022 saw 220 youth workers trained, reaching almost 4,000 young people across 152 organisations. The partnership also supported the development of Kinia Educator Credentials, credentials for young learners and a Creative Technology Toolkit.
In 2023, the Creative Technology Programme will be further embedded in non-formal and alternative education settings, will explore engagement for younger learners in after school youth settings and will support young people to build a network of creative industry partners to connect the work of creative technology educators to career opportunities for young people.
