Saolta Arts propose to expand its programme to deliver participative visual art workshops to cardiac and stroke patients in both the acute setting and outpatients in Galway University Hospitals. Furthermore we will partner with Croí, the west of Ireland Heart and Stroke charity to explore ways of working together. Through this pilot project we aim to: deliver an arts experience to our patients; both organisations will learn about each other and what we do; Croí will be introduced to the field of Arts and health and the benefits to patients; Saolta Arts in consultation with Croí staff, our patients, cardiac, stroke and rehabilitation staff, Healthy Ireland staff, and artists will enter a research and development phase where we will look at how we can collaborate to deliver a pathway for patients to continue their arts and health practice in the community after discharge from hospital; widen participation in the arts and build capacity in Arts & Health practice by collaborating with partners; strengthen the relationship and partnership between Galway University Hospitals and Croí; develop a partnership that has the potential to expand throughout the region as our patients have a catchment area as far north as Donegal.
