Diverse Waterford Oral History Project 2023

The Diverse Waterford Oral History Project records the voices and experiences of people throughout Waterford City & County and makes them available to the public so people can learn more about the people and places of Waterford. The project aims to empower and facilitate communities to carry out oral history recordings and enable them to share and preserve their work. The aim of the project is to empower a diverse range of communities, whether newly settled or with deep roots in Waterford and it's history, to be recognised as part of the rich and diverse history and to become part of the story of Waterford for future generations.

The Waterford Library and Archive Services are collaborating on this project to enable Waterford's communities to be documented and heard through the provision of ongoing training and guidelines on oral history recording; the recording of groups and individuals and the provision of a website to share these recordings. Video recordings will be added to the website to document and record groups, such as choirs and brass bands and other organisations that give voice to Waterford and it's cultural and creative voice.
