ANAM Gallery Opening Exhibition
Rita Oates, Artist, new ANAM Gallery space, once a Coach house where its beautiful stone walls lend themselves to displaying art, will be brought to life this year. In essence ANAM Gallery will create a space where art, creativity, heritage and commerce can all be enjoyed and celebrated.
The first exhibition is with two renowned International Roscommon Artists – Joe Caslin & Una Burke, creating an amazing Meet the Maker experience and Question and Answer event.
Born in Roscommon Joe Caslin is an Irish street artist, art teacher and activist. He’s best known for his beautifully rendered pencil drawings which manifest as towering pieces of street art. His highly accessible work engages directly with the social issues of modern Ireland, on an unavoidable scale. The monochrome drawings Caslin creates live with us. They hold a mirror up to the kind of society that we are, whilst asking us individually what kind of society we want to be part of. www.jecaslin.com
Una Burke set up her eponymous brand in 2010 in London, making both seasonal fashion collections and sculptural art pieces using her traditional leather-working techniques in her distinctly complex constructions. In Jan 2020, she moved home to her native Roscommon to continue her business with her partner Emmett Herbert and their son Leo. The Art pieces are figurative in form and come from this same source of inspiration. Una’s work has been exhibited in over twenty countries throughout the world. www.unaburke.com
