Bród as ár bPortach / Pride in our Peatland
Two Kerry artists, along with the Kilcummin community, will explore climate change through the media of writing, sound and photography, with the culmination of this process showcasing the transient nature and culture of our bogs, in a community exhibition. Lead by the Environmental Awareness Officer in Kerry County Council.
Project objectives are to:
- Creatively engage with the community, learning about biodiversity, etc. and imagining a positive future for the peatlands
- Creation of and dissemination of a soundscape featuring ambient sound from Kilcummin bog, woven with the voices of the community looking to the past, present and future
- Visual artwork inspired by the bog, made by local school children and adults in workshops with the artists
- Sharing all of the above with the wider Kilcummin community (and beyond) in a final exhibition and celebration event
