The Fire in Me Now
‘Perhaps my best years are gone. When there was a chance of happiness. But I wouldn’t want them back. Not with the fire in me now. No, I wouldn’t want them back.’
Samuel Beckett.
‘The Fire in Me Now’ is a series of writing and art workshops and discussions championing the older artist and engaging and facilitating creative expression for positive ageing through poetry and visual art. A group of interested people will come together and partake in a series of workshops with writer and poet Ron Carey and art therapist Margaret Curran.
At the end, it is envisaged that the workshop participants will have created a poem and a piece of visual art, inspired by the artists involved. We hope to raise the awareness that its never too late for the artist to emerge.
The project will culminate in a reading and discussion event celebrating the older artist at the Mountshannon Arts Festival at 2:00 pm on 4 June 2023. This event is free to attend with the Festival Wristband. More information here:
