Reading Your Local Landscape is a landscape environmental heritage course that teaches communities to understand the inherent qualities of the environment around us; built and natural.

The aim of the course is to provide the participants with

• A knowledge and understanding of the natural, built and cultural resources of the study area
• The necessary skills to undertake further research and work in the area of local heritage interpretation
• Opportunities to identify landscape resources which could be utilised to enhance your employment opportunities

Modules include:

• Geology and the shape of the local landscape
• Maps
• Biodiversity and habitats
• Archaeology
• Architecture
• Industrial archaeology
• Settlement and communication
• Heritage interpretation
• Project mentoring

Each participant will be required to complete a short project on their chosen aspect of local heritage. The course will finish with a public display of the participants project work and a presentation of Certificates of Course Completion.

There will be a free introductory workshop at Clare Museum on Tuesday 28 February, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. The course will then continue every Tuesday from 7 March to the 27 June at the same time.
