One of 15 projects from all around the country that are being funded by Creative Ireland through its €2 million Creative Climate Action fund, like all of these innovative projects, The Bohemian Way will use creative methods to build real change within communities to fight climate change. 

In partnership with the FAI, Dublin Bus and Push Pull Collective, The Bohemian Way will co-create, with local communities, a new historical walking route from the North Circular Road Gate Lodge at the Phoenix Park, the site of the club’s founding in 1890, to Dalymount Park, the club’s long-standing home.

The walkway, which will also serve as a pollinator highway, aims to bring people on a journey through the north inner city, and through history, to tell three interwoven stories – the history of the football club, the history of the city, and that of the future climate transition.

Club collaboration

The project will emphasise participation and, along with the collaborating artists, Bohemian FC will work with local communities to incorporate local tales, flora and voices.

Gigs, recitals, community gatherings, walking tours and town hall meetings will take place over the course of 2022 to further the development of the project, and encourage the communities surrounding the route to engage with the challenges and opportunities presented by the climate transition.

“We are delighted to be now in a position to work with and support local artists in the community to develop this ambitious project and, hopefully, provoke meaningful conversation on our shared future in the face of the climate crisis.

A lot has happened in Dublin since Bohs was founded in 1890 by a group of progressive innovative people who knew the power of co-operatives and active citizenship. Hopefully by learning from and drawing inspiration from the past, we can help communities with the changes that are coming today.”
