‘Lakelands’ is a Longford based feature film project that will explore midland youth culture and is set in a world with a built-in audience. Despite playing a major role in Irish society for the past century, GAA has only featured in passing in Irish films for the most part. This film will be a detailed exploration of the world, its rituals and the impact it has on young people.  It is also hoped to work with a cast of emerging Irish talent with built in fan bases, who will ensure the film’s commercial viability.

The film will be shot in Autumn 2021 / Spring 2022 and will premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh in July 2022. It will then screen at a number of international festivals. This festival run will be followed by a nationwide cinema release in 2023.
