"Joyce County - Galway & James Joyce" by Ray Burke, published by Artisan House
2022 is the centenary of the publication of Joyce’s masterpiece 'Ulysses' so interest in James Joyce will no doubt be refreshed. While Dublin is, of course, rightly the city with most claim to James Joyce, Galway city and county also play a significant role in his life, most notably through Galway woman Nora Barnacle.
Artisan House will update and re-issue a 2016 publication by Ray Burke’ which is now out of print. This new hardback edition will bring over 120 additional items of text and notes, missing from 2016 edition, illuminating the importance of Nora Barnacle and Galway city and county in James Joyce’s life and work.
This edition will be much enhanced by the inclusion of specially commissioned photographs as well as archival imagery, maps of Galway city and county that pinpoint places associated with Joyce and Nora, and an index, none of which were in the 2016 edition.
