SEEK Urban Arts Festival
Established in 2019, SEEK Urban Art Festival brings visual art to the streets of Dundalk. This year the festival will run from 31 July to 7 August with a launch event in Creative Spark on 31 July featuring presentations by the artists on their practice, their inspirations and their plans for the festival walls.
2021 will see the celebration of a selection of larger-than-life individuals with connections to Dundalk such as St Oliver Plunkett, Sir Francis Leopold McClintock AKA the Arctic Fox and Lugh / Lú the mythological warrior god.
Each day there will walking tours of the mural sites. Free graffiti and cyanotype (blueprint) workshops for children and young adults will be provided on the two Saturdays during the festival in 2021.
A mentoring and training programme is available before and during the festival for TY / 5th year students who are considering careers in the creative industries.
Following this year, a book commemorating the first three years of SEEK will be available, featuring photographs of the wall murals, interviews with the artists, and essays on the local historical individuals depicted in the murals.
