Ormston House- 100 Women of Limerick
Ormston House has partnered with historian Sharon Slater (National Heritage Hero 2017) and Victoria Brunetta from the award-winning Piquant Media, to create "100 Women of Limerick". This collaborative resource publication tells the story of Limerick women and their outstanding achievements in the arts, activism, business, education, politics, science and sports.
“100 Women of Limerick” addresses the absence of women in written history, and will be a resource for future community events and artistic commissions at Ormston House.
In January 2021, Ormston House launched a new mobile phone app to remember and celebrate twenty-five women from Limerick’s history. On launching, the app was trending #2 in Ireland in the Google Play store and in the top 100 apps in the Apple Store with all 5-star ratings.
Ormston House will expand on this project through a publication to include women from across Limerick city and county, and to increase the number of women and areas of expertise.
This open-source publication will be completed and distributed in line with COVID-19 restrictions, and be used as a resource to community groups (most notably our community partners at Limerick Women’s Network), libraries, schools, artists’ studios, and other resource organisations.
Launch: October 2021
