Street Art for the Goals
Street Art for the Goals combines visual art, sustainable living and reclamation of underused community space to raise awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This Project combines environmental education with visual art installations to raise awareness and beautify our public spaces.
There are 17 SDGs passed by the United Nations (Ireland is a key signatory). We will create an installation for each of the Goals. We will develop 17 installations throughout County Waterford but each one will be a stand alone piece of art as well as be part of the series.
The installations use a variety of innovative creative and sustainable methods. For example, Goal 13 (Climate Action) is green and our installation will grow moss in the shape of the Goal on an underused wall space. Installations will be approximately 1.5 m x 1.5m.
Accompanying the launch of each installation will be a social media campaign to encourage people to visit the installation as well as raise awareness about the SDGs, why they are important and the role that each of us has in making sure that we achieve them.
