Tread Softly "Sligo Dreams"
The Sligo Dreams project was inspired by the convergence of three different sources of inspiration: the Tread Softly festival, the words of WB Yeats and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This will be its third year. The event has and continues to draw its purpose from the urgency of achieving the UN global goals of sustainability through greater interconnectedness and interdependence in our communities.
We aim to facilitate people to articulate and share a vision for project or place in Sligo that matters to them and then provide the opportunity to test if that vision can be embedded and realised in the course of the following 12 months. The “place” could be a street, a housing estate, a park, the town or the county. Two invited “guests” will then take their chosen theme, (one theme each) and present it to an audience (some specially invited and public who will have the opportunity to express their interest and attend). That audience then becomes a workshop comprised of up to 25 people in total (from different creative and other backgrounds). They will then work together to help establish how that dream or vision can be realised. The two guest presenters will then endeavour to implement that vision with the insight, support and planning gained from the workshop.
