Engaging the public on climate change through creative writing in Cork City Council Public Libraries.The challenges of climate change impacts every community and every institution  or service including the library service. Cork city centre is built on what was once a marsh-Corcach Mór na Mumhan.The potential damage to the city of rising sea levels is self-evident. Many cities of comparable size in Europe are taking steps to becoming car-free cities. Cork with its medieval street patterns, was never made for car travel, and transport policy will be one of the key ways in which citizens will move to a sustainable future.

The newer parts of Cork city - Blarney, Ballincollig, Glanmire and Douglas - offer different challenges and a possible new way of living and working.

These challenges and the impact of Covid-19 identifies a world that is changing. This residency is an opportunity for a writer to explore these issues in their own work and engage the public in a wider debate through creativity, publications and participation in the city's literary festivals.
